Part1# Decoding the other dimension of 'Spirituality'
Exploring My Spiritual Journey through Various Facets
A few years back this was the first time I heard about a place in the Himalayas Haridwar Now the very next day, when I got free from meditation class, I went to the Ganges(Holy River in India). It was very near to my institute where I stayed for my retreat. It was cloudy and dazzling with smoggy weather. It was very romantic though! I was sitting on the stairs leading down to the river. My eyes towards the mountains were in a very stable manner, my eyes were only watching mountains, but after 10 minutes, I saw, that the mountains were moving like clouds and slowly moving unattached and overlapping visible from a distance. I blinked my eyes and shook my head; again, I saw the continuous moving of mountains. I couldn’t able to analyze, what was happening with me; was this due to some effect of yoga and meditation or something else?...it was unknown to me. I saw the mountains. I felt dizzy and was going to faint, but I became conscious again. I hear the sound of a ‘temple ring bell’. It was a time of regular prayer of the temple and “Ganga-Aarti(prayer)”.
I often used to attain Ganga-aarti, I went nearby temple area near the river and started chanting aarti with other people gathered there, and there I had a meeting with ‘Maikala’; she was a Spanish lady practicing some breathing work and making some postures trying to balance in the way of breathing with body movements. I did not understand first what she was doing but when she finished her practice I was eagerly waiting to ask her about the very fascinating and secret of spiritual dimension. when I asked her what she was doing, and what it meant to perform it with such a flow and synchronization. she first told me that - this was tantric yoga (First I was afraid because ‘Tantric yoga’ is considered one of the most powerful and intense). Her mother was from Spain and her father was Indian.
After meeting with Maikala, I have my whole focus diverted to ‘Tantra yoga’. I heard about “Primordial energy”, and knew that this is a force that drives the whole universe, including us. But this was just little known about the vast sea of knowledge. I wanted to know more about the world of ‘Spiritual Energy’ and I was excited to know more about this. I request Maikala to show me; what is practicing and teaching. How it works? How I can experience this? Well, these types of people generally don’t entertain, until they are fully assured about their privacy and keep secrets intact. So, I tried to meet her about my compassion for knowing about another world of Tantra. But she was not revealing, anyway. I decided to search about this very fascinating world of Tantra. I brought some books and started meeting different people associated with this type of extreme world. Most of them don’t want to talk about Tantra, because they feel this is still ‘Taboo’ in the world. I was curious and impatience. Anyhow, I decided to know about this secret world. I was a little bit scared but the fact I was thinking at that time if this type of knowledge and practice in my culture was not from yesterday or 100 years. but it has been coming to us for thousands of years that thrives me to understand more about this fascinating world.
When I first saw time Maikala, she was wearing full of heavy-weight jewelry from head to toe. Each of them had a specific design which they called ‘Yantra’. Yantra is a tool that is used to build a connection between a Particular deity and the Practitioner. Consists of basic geometry like triangles, circular, squares, hexagonals, etc. With the combination of this geometry, yantra formed. She said; these practices of tantra should be performed in the presence of Guru (Spiritual guide or Master). Because if anything goes wrong, it could lead to very terrific results. When she said this – I was feared enough to hear all this and I said her goodbye for the day, and asked her to meet another day whenever she got free time.
